Bavarian commune Berchtesgaden is known for its amazing beauty of Lake Konigssee, located in the valley between the mountains in the Alps. It is especially picturesque in the fall, including yellow and red trees. In these places you can see the salt mines, in which more than 500 years mined salt, and in these days is a fascinating underground attraction. And yet it is famous for its mountain Kehlstein, which offers a wonderful view of the entire commune, the Alps and the surrounding neighborhood at a distance of two hundred kilometers. They say that in good weather with this mountain can be seen and Salzburg, to which only thirty miles from here, but it says so ... I do not know how much it is true ... It took a fancy to this mountain, Martin Bormann, that would make a gift to the fiftieth anniversary of the Fuhrer ...
Eagle's Nest, the Kehlstein, Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany, 03.07.2011, the
small, cozy, tea house, later became one of the residences of Hitler. Its construction began in 1937 on the initiative of Bormann with construction of the road, a length of about 6.5 km and passes through five tunnels. The road ends in front of the rock platform, which with the help of explosions struck six 124 m long tunnel leading to an elevator, decorated with polished to a shine golden bronze. Forty one second elevator rises to a height of 124 meters and goes directly to the tea house.
All construction and laying of roads have been completed for thirteen months. Summer of 1938, the future residence of Hitler was ready for operation. In April 1945, during a massive raid on the British aviation area tea house survived. Not a bomb fell on its territory. British pilots simply have not seen in this "dacha" nothing serious.
The second time the Eagle Nest survived in 1951, when it was transferred to the US occupation authorities in Bavaria. The Bavarian government has decided to demolish the house that would not come here fans Fuhrer. However, the county Berchtesgaden temporarily blocked the ruling, and after negotiations, it was decided to blow up the ruins of Hitler's bunker just below the ...
